Needs to be screwed to the dashboard

I used an alcohol wipe and cleaned the dashboard thoroughly before sticking the unit to the dashboard. Leave it for two hours and connect the GPS. The device fell the next day in a high temperature of 25ยฐC. The trim seems sticky enough, but the only way to keep this device on the dashboard is to superglue it or screw it on. The 3 meter platform itself does not hold up. The suction cup is a different matter and it would take King Kong to remove it from the base. Looked promising but I don'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Not bad

Adds versatility in where you can position a Garmin GPS that Garmin suction cup mounts cannot. a lever to make room for the ring that the ball snaps into. This greatly increases the distance the GPS can rotate on the ball, increasing the angle at which the GPS can be positioned. Second, of course, is the adjustable lever. In combination with the additional swivel stroke, it simply opens up all possible positions on the dashboard or windshield. There is a deeper notch on the underside of theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive

Anyone who has bought a Garmin sat nav knows that the windshield mount that comes with it is practically useless. Also, anyone who has attempted to purchase a replacement windshield mount knows that most replacement mounts are only marginally better, only work temporarily, and eventually (rather quickly) become virtually useless. In short, this is the only mount that has always worked well. for me (I had at least 3 different ones that were more expensive than this one). Some things to considerโ€ฆ

A very good GPS mount, but neither tends to fade in the sun.

The picture shows the arm is much longer than it really is, about 3 inches long. I needed a vertical mount for an extra rear view monitor in an RV. The horizontal mounts held the Garmin-like monitor at an odd angle. It positions the monitor very well and adjusts well. The suction cup is very sticky and really sticks to the included disc. I've had issues in the past with these black mounts getting too hot and even melting a bit when placed on a windshield or dashboard parked in the hot Texasโ€ฆ

Sticks without adhesive disc

I received this extended arm gps suction cup mount on July 19th. It's been almost 6 weeks in the summer sun in Sok and he has yet to break contact by attaching a DriveSmart 61 GPS (basically a 7 inch GPS) to it. It adjusts to a variety of angles and stays in place with a thumb squeeze. I cleaned the stain on the dashboard with rubbing alcohol, allowed the alcohol to dry, placed the suction cup and left it for 24 hours before putting the GPS on. The suction cup is a bit sticky in its own riteโ€ฆ

  • Vehicle mounts
Cons
  • High price

That windshield mount really sucks.

like a windshield mount. And when they say sticky, they're not kidding. This thing sticks to the point where it's almost impossible to remove. It's like there's glue on it, but it's not. I've tried four or five Garmin mounts and all have failed. Also, at some point, I've gone to my car with everyone on a hot or cold day to install a mount on the dash. Not this one. I've read other reviews that said the ball end was a little small and loose for a Garmin mount, but mine fits snugly and snuglyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • GPS, viewfinder and accessories
Cons
  • Some little things
