Such a funny story, I've had the car for about five years... Have driven about 70,000 miles in those five years and half a year ago it dawned on me, I actually never change the air filter...usually clean at oil change points and say I'll do it later because I know it's very easy and cheaper to do it myself and I'll forget and forget about it. After I replaced it, I banged my head on the headrest a few times because I hit the gas and got a little more power than I remembered.
