This is one of the new toys I have to put in my budgie's new big cage. Seems like it was a HUGE hit with him! It sits next to him when he sleeps at night and seems to be one of the first things he starts playing with when he wakes up in the morning. Most parrot-type birds like to shred things, and he's no exception. This keeps them busy and prevents boredom. He's still a kid, but he already enjoys tearing things apart. This is a great toy for crushing small birds. I think it will last him at least a little bit. I also think that once he breaks through all the finger traps I can buy a lot loose and easily refill his toys with new ones. Every bird has different chewing and hacking habits, but I think this works best for small to medium sized birds. I wouldn't recommend it for large birds, not because they don't like it, but simply because I don't think it will last long with their big, strong beaks. I think they would tear it apart in no time. I think I would just give the larger birds "finger traps" to use as chopper foot toys or add to their feeding toys. Constantly trying to fill up and hang more "finger traps" for larger birds would be too much work.
