The subwoofer works well, it's nice that it has a frequency response scale. Monoprice makes some pretty good stuff at a really good price. Sound quality is pretty tight, maybe a little boom instead of a tight smack, but not by much. Again, this is one of the cheapest entry-level subwoofers you can get, so keep that in mind. As with everything on the Monoprice, function overrides form, the finish is pretty good but could do with better, but to keep the great-sounding hardware cheap I agree with the slight lack of decorative detail. There is a star deduction for this purchase as with Amazon because of the price. Straight off the mono price, these things only cost $60. I know the 2 day shipping has to be paid for, but the extra $20 seems like a lot. that is 33.3% of the manufacturer's suggested retail price.
