Okay - let's take it there. The infamous PL259/SO259 connector, also known as the UHF connector, is commonly used for HF connections in amateur radio and other communications equipment. The dirty little secret, however, is that this isn't the best RF connector. Its simplicity is deceptive and it can be difficult to properly connect, especially as you get older. The middle wire is loose and the outer connector doesn't always fit and tighten properly. And if it is connected incorrectly, it will result in signal loss. By far the "best mousetrap" are the N adapters, which are not only listed for UHF, but also for 18 GHz. They offer an excellent connection and are much more reliable to use. However, with the exception of microwave ovens and some test equipment, they are not as widely used. However, there are cases where it is beneficial to connect radios with standard UHF to N connectors and this is where the BOOBRIE UHF Female to N Male SO239 to N Antenna Adapter comes in handy. on one side and on the other side an N-type connector. They are made of nickel-plated brass. That speaks volumes about the quality of the connectors.
