Steam is escaping from the lid and whistle - a hazard to Will Robinson!

This seemed like a good solution to replace our old Revereware kettle. Feels like good workmanship compared to others I've tested: I like the nice knurled edges around the inside edge of the lid opening. After playing in store with other brands like Oxo, Le Creuset and others, I can say that not all competitors show the same attention to detail. Unfortunately, that's where the benefits of T-Fal end. We were very annoyed about the timbre of the whistle; It seems nice that it's loud, but the sound is also quite uncomfortable. A more serious problem is that the spout emits steam about 2 feet to the side that can warp your cabinets or burn you. A lot of steam also escapes under the lid. With this kettle you have a dilemma: after turning off the stove, you open the spout because the whistling is terribly loud and continues long after you have turned off the stove. . However, you cannot use it with bare hands due to steam escaping from the lid. Even if you protect yourself from it, you still have to take care of opening the spout. It opens with a sharp movement and squirts boiling water in your face.
