Review on πŸ”© Industrial Metal Wall Mounted Shelf Brackets - 4 Pack Heavy Duty Floating 8 Inch Brackets for Shelves by Justin Rasmussen

Neat brackets, installation leaves something to be desired

So first brackets. They seem strong enough when properly attached. Of the 8 brackets ordered, two are not perfectly perpendicular to the mounting plate, so you cannot rely on the dimensions alone when placing the bracket. You need a level and a partner to help you. Aesthetically, they're quite nice, with a reasonably durable black matte finish, and they were well packaged. I only use them to support 12" x 24" x 0.5" shelves, so I doubt I can put enough weight on them to really test them. Second, attachment. This leaves a lot to be desired The included wall anchors just won't fit 1/2" thick drywall. Even if you do manage to drill a perfectly tight pilot hole for the anchors, the ridiculous little plastic pins meant to keep it from rotating while you use them with the appropriate ones are great Fasten screws, just useless. Instead of screwing the mount to the wall, the anchor simply rotates. And that's using a standard non-powered Phillips screwdriver. Also, the included anchors definitely don't carry any real weight on a 12" mount , even if you're using them in drywall The size of the anchors, combined with their close proximity to their siblings in the mounting pattern, simply doesn't provide effective attachment to drywall building walls. If you buy these and have 1/2" drywall and can't rack mount them, you'll need to find an alternate mounting option, which means you won't be able to use the included black screws. .Which brings me to the last point. The screws that attach them to the wall are typically pan-head or button-head screws. However, the mounting plate does not contain a countersink. So these screws are not flush with the retaining plate. It's not that noticeable with black screws. But if you need to use another type of wall anchor that doesn't use black screws, regular zinc, steel, or stainless steel screws make it obvious. the same color as the wall, and installed supports in varnished poplar wood for strength and rigidity.
