Review on Enhanced Element14 πŸ”Ί Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Motherboard by Dale Emmel

Differences to 3B. Doesn't fit the old case.

This is an amazing ARM based computer. As I own several 3B models I just want to focus on a few obvious differences from this 3B Plus model. First, it doesn't quite match the 3B case. It has 4 additional ethernet pins. If necessary, you can make a hole. The two holes in the case for additional heatsinks don't quite line up with the location of the chips. This doesn't seem to be such a big problem as the heat is now radiating all over the board and out the metal Ethernet/USB ports. Radiators are not needed yet. Another problem is that you need the latest NOOB software on a memory stick if you want to boot. Not a problem, but worth mentioning. Overall it works well and uses the same software as previous versions. Not easy to freeze or overload when you press hard. It also has 5G in addition to 2G WiFi. A very good choice if you are still interested. I used it on a SunFounder robot car, updated the car software itself to Python 3 and implemented the openCV AI vision to recognize and follow us. This is not the maximum usage of the new 3B plus CPU cycles like 3B. However, I plan to implement multi-threading and multi-processing to use more cores to process real-time video a bit faster. on lithium batteries. He doesn't seem too power hungry. We could probably look it up in the specs. So far I haven't noticed any difference in normal use. This is a noticeable improvement over the 3B model ;-)
