RPi 3+ as Steam Link

I was unable to get a Steam Link device before it was discontinued. Now people are selling them for a hefty price for it. Therefore, Steam Valve has announced that there is free streaming software for PC games only for RPi 3 B or B+. I went and bought the RPi without question and set it up. The Bluetooth and WIFI added to this board is truly a blessing. I had a first generation RPi back then that required a lot of add-ons. If you want to use it for Steam Link, make sure you research it before…

Great buy in internals

**UPDATE: 2019-07-12 The ARM version is shown depending on the operating system you are using. Example: If you are using Raspbian you will see v7, but if you install something else meant for v8 (aarch64) like Ubuntu Mate (aarch64) you will see v8. To find out the version, open a terminal and type: cat /proc/cpuinfo, then press Enter. It will list the CPU for you or list the CPU architecture number 7 or 8. From 8 you can run the 64-bit version. Hooray! **UPDATE: 2018-10-01 Works great, but ships

Differences to 3B. Doesn't fit the old case.

This is an amazing ARM based computer. As I own several 3B models I just want to focus on a few obvious differences from this 3B Plus model. First, it doesn't quite match the 3B case. It has 4 additional ethernet pins. If necessary, you can make a hole. The two holes in the case for additional heatsinks don't quite line up with the location of the chips. This doesn't seem to be such a big problem as the heat is now radiating all over the board and out the metal Ethernet/USB ports. Radiators are

Yes, it's actually an ARM v8 chip

I don't understand the hostile reviews of it being falsely advertised as ARMv8 when it's "really" v7. The reason why it shows as v7 when running system information tools is because it runs in v7 mode since the software cannot run it in v8 mode. I *think* it's because it's a 64-bit chip that only runs on a 32-bit OS, but I can't remember exactly. There is documentation on the RPi website explaining this and I also pulled out a number stamped right on the chip itself which is exactly what they…

Pros
  • Not just useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Raspberry Pi 3 B+ works great BUT you need to download the latest version of Raspbian Stretch. -stretch.zip" - that didn't work at all. Raspberry didn't start. I downloaded the latest Raspbian "2018-03-13-raspbian-stretch.zip" from the official Raspberry website. After flashing the microCD card Raspberry started right away with this Raspbian Seems to be very fast 64-bit quad-core ARMv8 processor Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n/ac 2.4 and 5 GHz Bluetooth 4.2 and BLE You only get the Raspberry Pi 3 B+…
