We tried a meat thermometer and were satisfied. We had two suggestions, or would like a little more. First of all, I wish the cable was a bit longer. This would give a little more wiggle room as to where the base could be placed. I use it in my oven as it almost had to be on the stove. Second, the monitor's lighting could have more contrast. If the lighting were fairly dim, it would be a little difficult to read. These are great tunes and overall we were happy! The roast was perfectly done and we didn't have to run to the oven to check! A great idea!
