I actually purchased this same item last year and should have remembered the issue of the bulbs turning brown inside. I trashed last year's purchase because I didn't feel safe with a supposed waterproof bulb turning brown inside. If it's truly waterproof why do they turn brown and is the electrical part being endangered. I ordered them again this year hoping they had improved on that. I purchased two strands to the tune of around $70 each purchase. This year is no different. The lights have been up for 2 weeks or less and already the majority are brown inside. Yes, I could return them when I take them down after Christmas but the boxes were recycled so now what? :-(
