Starter gear is stuck in the teeth

The starter arrived and looked great. The battery is fully charged and ready for installation. After installation, he did not lift the gear to bring it into contact with the engine flywheel teeth. Tried several times, but the starter simply twisted. Note that the metal plate underneath the plastic gear that slides up and down on the splined shaft got stuck in the tapered part of the shaft just below the splined part. Probably a manufacturing defect. I considered installing a teflon bushing to prevent this, but didn't want to void the warranty. With a small screwdriver I was able to loosen the metal plate and this allowed the engine to start, but the plate got stuck on the shaft every time. Sent back to Revain for a full refund. I would recommend putting a teflon bushing/washer under the metal plate to prevent sticking. Hope this helps with future design.
