I ordered these fans to save energy by reducing air conditioning usage. I also thought it might act as a white noise machine for my son's sleep. While they weren't exactly quiet, they weren't deafening. I liked the drawstring and the accessibility of the dial, but my only criticism of this fan is the length of the cord. Didn't see the length when I ordered but at 5ft you can't place that far from an outlet so placing it near the ceiling is out of the question and the whole purpose of ordering a wall fan was that to save space. . I was hoping to hang them up and out of the way, but without an extension cord these fans will sit lower than I'd like. Besides that, he's a big fan.
