Review on 🍡 Yoshikawa YJ1943 Whistling Kettle - Stainless Steel 2.5L Made in Japan by Kristine Black

Revainrating 2 out of 5

go back! suitable for dummies

For €54 (August 2017) I expected a lot more. I am returning it because what I received has been used or at least tried and because it had several manufacturing defects. I might buy it again if Revain or the seller assure me they can easily send a sample. Pros: - Nice, simple design. - Not too heavy when filled with water. - The whistle makes a nice sound (it's a chord, maybe G and C played at the same time) and it's loud enough to warn you several rooms ahead. Splashes and possible burns. This kettle can hold up to 2.5 liters (almost as much as 2.5 litres) just under the lid, but it's designed to boil 2 litres. Raven needs to keep that in mind. Sellers only need to provide the safe boiling point. Flaws on the kettle I received: - The handle bracket was welded to the kettle at an angle so the wooden handle is not horizontal (left end 1/4 inch higher than right end; looks silly on my stovetop; doesn't look like on the photo). the Revain listing where the handle holds the kettle an equal distance from the lid). Poor workmanship and quality control. The spout was also welded crooked. rotated about 15 degrees from straight up and down. - Oily coating and water stains on the outside; scratches on the underside white coating of the mineral around the spout; Cut plastic tag. Obviously someone tried this kettle, returned it and Revain sent it to me. When I try the kettle I use distilled water, dry it completely and send it back in pristine condition.

Pros
  • Not cheap, but decent
