There is no tension at all in the hinge of the money part. the hinge is just leather. The locking mechanism is a weak magnet. This means if you like carrying a lot of bills around, this is unfortunately useless. Otherwise it is a good card holder. But I was looking for something to store my money so I can't use that. It may open when you take it out of your pocket.
