Review on Grundfos 595926 Replacement Comfort Circulator by Daniel Pesicek

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Served 2-3 years. CHEAP replacement

I just bought this to replace an identical one. The first failed 3 years and 3 months after the (manufacture) date stamp, probably after about 2 1/2 years of service. I have a good, clean city water supply. The second failed after 1 year and 11 months. It's too expensive - I won't do it again. I made a replacement out of parts at a local plumbing store for $16. (See photo) I put a manual valve in the middle to control circulation. With the valve slightly ajar I get the same results (same water temperature) as with new Grundfos. If you have space under the sink and are good with tools, give it a try. Grundfos is a thermostatic valve. If it's working properly and your circulation pump is running, the water in the sink it's installed in will be warm (not hot). Both hot and cold faucets are the same temperature, at least until you let them run for a while. mine broke The symptom was that the sink water was HOT on both faucets and the shower was much hotter than usual. It was while the pump was running. My second would not close. If it fails in the closed position, return to the original state before installation with cold water from both faucets until you run the hot water for a while.
