It wasn't really necessary, but I like the fact that this antenna is a bit longer.
This antenna is also ideal for Tecsun PL-600 and PL-680. I have Tecsun PL-600, 660, 680 and 880 radios. (I'm a bit of a radio collector.) Overall I replaced the original antenna with this antenna. It wasn't really necessary, but I like the fact that this antenna is slightly longer than the original (it doesn't matter when it comes to reception) and that this antenna is stainless steel. Highly recommended if you need a replacement antenna for your Tecsun radio. Just make sure it fits your Tecsun radio model. It is NOT designed for all Tecsun radio models. Depending on the dimensions and how the antenna is attached to the radio, this may or may not work on other radios.
