I didn't even know what a Microplan was, but now that I have one, I can't do without this kitchen tool. There's nothing better than rubbing a lemon or lime. Also great if you want to mash fresh garlic into a paste. Sometimes it's even easier to use than a box grater when it comes to hard cheeses. I've heard from people that they dull over time and need replacing as they can't be sharpened. That may be true, but mine is over ten years old and still works. The only downside is that washing without a dishwasher is a real pain. Get ready to grind your dish sponge! If you cook a lot and don't have one, get one.
