MASSIVE pieces! on Leather Strips, Shapes & Cuts

This is my second purchase from this company but definitely won't be the last! There were only 5 in my 3 pound sack. One of them was what I would call a small or medium rectangle. Two of these were long rectangles, more than suitable for belts, cords, bracelets, watch bands, etc. The last two pieces were irregular but solid! For the time being I put them aside again as they are too good to waste on trifles. They deserve to be used for something special. Upholstering a chair or stool is straightforward. I even think that with some creativity it could be made into a jacket or other garments, something like that for her? By the way, rubbing alcohol cleans the leather and it becomes absorbent and can be dyed. Then wax it again or something similar to make it waterproof again. The leather looks very high quality again, with a pleasant leather smell. Only approx. 1 mm thick with a smoothly polished outer surface. They were black and dark brown. I used to have the most wonderful large piece of London Tan (light, golden brown, like an English dish before it was oiled), although that too was about 1mm thick, soft and supple. Thanks to this company I have never been so spoiled for choice! I understand this is luck and I'm sorry if you receive smaller pieces and not many colors. But if you think about it, a pelt of this quality would probably cost over $100. During a personal disaster, I lost many things including all of my leatherworking tools and my faux leather. I never had enough money to replace things. I have now purchased a basic $16 tool kit from Revain and two batches of this wonderful leather. So now I can make things again for only $50, less than half the skin, and that even includes the basic tools! I know some are frustrated with the holes in the leather, got my first today but it was in the corner and not really a loss. What you need to remember is where the skin is actually coming from. It's not plastic and it's always so uniform, it's really organic and will therefore contain imperfections from things like scars from barbed wire wounds or whatever. Also problems with the processing of skins. It's part of the skin, and if you can't use it as a "feature" somehow, you'll have to bypass it. Problems are annoying, but you should embrace them as part of a hobby or business. I thank the suppliers for giving me access to such wonderful leather, otherwise I could never have afforded it.
