Review on πŸ”§ Enhance Fuel Quality and Engine Performance with Mr. Funnel AF15CB Fuel Filter by Jason Marquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked as described, saved me a bunch of $

Last summer we were about to cross the Gulf of Mexico in a 24-hour passage when our trawler's engine suddenly stopped. After a bit of yelling and yelling at each other, we realized we had water in the tank on the starboard side (200 gallons of diesel) but not on the port side. We were able to isolate ourselves from this tank and purge the fuel/air from the engine and soon we continued our journey and made the transition. When I got to port I looked into polishing fuel and realized that not only would it be very expensive if you have to polish 200 gallons, it would also be a bit difficult from a logistical standpoint. So I ordered two of them to see if I could clean the diesel on my own. I first poured the worst of it from the bottom of the tank straight into two buckets until the level in the tank was above what I was sure of. no water. Then I pumped the fuel spilled in the buckets back into the "bad" tank and filtered again. Then I was sure what was in the "bad" tank and filtered the whole tank back into the good tank and in this run I used two of these filters stacked on top of each other so one filter fed the other. In the attached photo, the filter is under the Revain box and goes straight into the left tank. The visible filter is the second filter from the top, the box keeps everything in place. In EOD I don't think using two filters was really necessary, it really didn't do anything on the second pass. But it didn't slow anything down either, so I don't see any harm if it's very important. At the end of the day, all systems were up and running and the issue was resolved.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • There are some nuances
