Design needs to be changed

The funnel holds fuel even if the fuel is clean. Depending on how the filter is made, there will be a solid lip under the strainer that will hold the fuel. This means that every time you filter, half a glass of fuel remains in the filter. The most obvious thing to do is to put it back in the original container. When I attempt this, the shape of the top of the funnel inevitably results in spilled fuel. I also bought a larger block thinking it would provide better flow. Although it's probably…

Works perfectly! for filter

I was a bit skeptical about this product after reading some of the reviews. The key for me was buying the right filter. I have a bigger one and it pushes gas through faster than I can fill it. I have a gas holder and bought it to keep contaminants out of my engine. The only downside to using this product is that there is very little gas left in the funnel after the job is done. Just have an empty container ready and pour it in. The presence of a small amount of gas makes it easier to rev up and

Doesn't filter to the bottom

As a filter? Works well. Here's the problem, the filter doesn't reach the bottom of the funnel. That means after filtering there's an eighth of an inch of unfiltered fuel that has nowhere to go. Extremely annoying. Thought maybe the water would separate, so I filtered some of the fuel into a bottle, emptied what was stuck in the filter, then poured what I had just filtered back into the funnel and lo and behold, the same amount stayed on bottom of the funnel. The filter is also permanent. If…

Filters but easily overflows

The funnel is used to filter the fuel that is filled in. The problem is that once you put the funnel in the hole, you can't see the fuel level as it fills up. With a traditional funnel, you can stop pouring for a few seconds and look through the funnel at the fuel level. Because the filter plugs the opening with this funnel, you cannot see how much fuel is in the tank until it is full. You cannot stop for a few seconds and lift the funnel to check the level in the tank because the funnel will…

Fit for intended use

What struck me about this funnel is different from most reviews. First, it is designed to have a small area at the bottom to collect contaminants in the fuel, such as: As water to record. The water is at the bottom of the fuel, not at the top. So if your fuel is of very good quality and there is no water in it, there will still be fuel in the funnel. I just leave the remaining fuel back in the container it was taken from. In the end I will use. I use much too expensive water in the diesel for…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

The reason I chose Mr. The Funnel is so I didn't want to bother getting rid of diesel when changing the filters on my pickup. I have 2 large aftermarket fuel filters on my truck and when I change them and drain the fuel from the filters I have half a gallon of diesel left. I can't dump it back in my truck because it's contaminated and I can't safely/legally dispose of it. So I bought Mr. Funnel. I bought the largest size, f15, which has 2 filters in the funnel. I bought the largest size because

Worked as described, saved me a bunch of $

Last summer we were about to cross the Gulf of Mexico in a 24-hour passage when our trawler's engine suddenly stopped. After a bit of yelling and yelling at each other, we realized we had water in the tank on the starboard side (200 gallons of diesel) but not on the port side. We were able to isolate ourselves from this tank and purge the fuel/air from the engine and soon we continued our journey and made the transition. When I got to port I looked into polishing fuel and realized that not only

Major Design Defects of Fuel Filters

Problem 1: Poor Design. Does not drain completely due to the plastic band at the bottom of the filter leaving about 1 pint of fuel in the funnel. You don't know if it's contaminated with water or not. You must tip it back into the original jar or throw it away. 2. Problem: the instructions imply the presence of a reservoir for collecting water. There is a gap between the inner bottom of the hopper and the outer bottom. I assumed that water was collecting there. Not correct. This seat is not…
