Review on πŸ“± Fintie Rotating Case for iPad Air (3rd Gen) 10.5" 2019 / iPad Pro 10.5" 2017 with Built-in Pencil Holder - Black - 360 Degree Rotating Stand - Auto Sleep/Wake - Protective Cover by Craig Kimball

Protects the pencil well, poorly protects the keys when the device is dropped.

Pros: The biggest benefit of this case is that the Apple Pencil is stored neatly and securely in the molded plastic part of the case (compared to the fragile elastic strap on other models). and it also has space for a pencil cap and charging port when not in use. The grooves built into the lid to hold the iPad for viewing are well made (deep enough that it doesn't slip out easily), but the case could be greatly improved by adding a third groove closer to the back to allow the iPad to slide out can sit more upright in landscape mode. Cons: This is my second case of the same style from the same company (different color variant). In the first case, the elastic loop that kept the lid closed began to stretch due to loss of elasticity near one of the attachment points. (That didn't happen in this case.) Also, I found the design flaw the hard way. I accidentally dropped my iPad (from a small height) while it was in a case. I'm not a clumsy person, but I lost control of the device while trying to open a heavy door. Although I caught it immediately when it hit the tiled floor, this case's design left the exposed sleep/wake button (and volume buttons) vulnerable, and the sleep/wake button was damaged. Although the device was damaged due to a design exposing vulnerable buttons, I chose this style of case because of the way it handles the Apple Pencil.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Boring packaging
