I bought these for my wife to light scented candles because of their long range and I want to stop using fossil fuels and create more plastic waste with one use lighter. But this lighter is not nearly as effective as traditional lighters.1. The "arc" is very short, it is quite difficult to direct the arc onto the wick of the candle so that none of the leads touch the wick. If one of the leads touches the wick, the arc disappears. The sweet spot is very small.2. It can only be turned on continuously for about 20 seconds. After that, it needs to cool down a bit before you can use it again. It takes less than 20 seconds to light one of these three wick candles with a regular lighter. Due to the short arc, small sweet spot problem, short duration and overheating, the simple process takes a hell of a lot of time.3. it dies after a week, we used it to light candles for about 5 nights. I thought it was dirty because there is soot on the connectors. I tried wiping it with a dry cloth but that didn't solve the problem. The battery gauge shows full bars, but the tool will not strike an arc. I am very disappointed in this product. I thought I would benefit the environment by using a product that produces zero emissions and uses renewable electricity, but instead we produced more waste. Now we only use matches.
