Review on NETGEAR WPN824NA Wireless Mimo Router by Bilal Cartwright

Worked for 18 months then firmware problems

Update: 1 day after I wrote this Netgear sent me a firmware fix which fixed the problems and everything is working fine now. Although I didn't like being blown away like that the first time, I'm glad they fixed it. Not sure if this is coincidence or if they read this (last contact with them that blew my mind was March 18th). So, I'm a fan of Netgear again. I bought it about 2 years ago. It worked great until 6 months ago. I use MAC filtering. I added another address and it crashed. It crashed every time I tried to download it. I was forced to reset the settings to mana. Now I can't add MAC address filtering and other firmware features don't work. I made sure I have the latest firmware and that's it. Netgear (India) support people were pretty hopeless (they ignored what I told them and repeated instructions on what I had already done). I finally got a level 2 support specialist who first rebuked me for not having a warranty and then told me there was nothing they could do and could buy another one. Sigh. I got lucky with D-Link about a year ago. In less than a year, two D-Link wireless USB flash drives died. I see a lot of other people are having similar issues so I'm switching to Belkin. I find that Linksys was like that - they were great and then they grew up and the products became garbage. Since Cisco bought them, they seem to be even worse. When purchasing, please note that the service life can be 1 to 2 years.

Cons
