I purchased these 9v Procell batteries on November 5th 2019 and my husband used up two batteries when he replaced the batteries in all our smoke alarms a few weeks later. I needed to replace the battery in my digital kitchen scale an hour ago and tried several of these Procell batteries before I found one that even charged the scale. I've gone through the rest - 22 batteries in total - and 21 of them are dead as the scale won't even turn on! Now my husband has to check all the smoke detectors to find the two he used from that batch as I'm afraid they were DOA too. Thank goodness those "new" batteries are yellow and the Procell 9V batteries we had on hand are red so we can tell them apart. I used to buy boxes of 12 Procell 9V batteries and had no problems with them. . In fact, the one I grabbed from the kitchen scale was Procell (red/black). The scale is not used very often - I can't remember when it was last changed - so I don't understand why the 24 batteries I got are completely useless when the Procells I used were great and lasted a very long time have held. long time.
