The locking mechanism died after a few months and the rest fell apart after 9 months.

Installed with minimal problems and worked for several months. Then the quick lock. After 9 months the spot welds burst and the hatch would not open. No corrosion, just poor design and workmanship. Buying a genuine Toyota part costs $40 more. The design is still poor, but hopefully the build quality will improve. Only use this part if you plan to sell the car soon and you don't like the buyer!
