Are these tools useful for basic applications? Yes. The included TDS meter measures conductivity in parts per million and is not suitable for measuring the concentration of specific compounds unless you only add them to the solution. The supplied manual is for a different and more expensive TDS meter. This makes it unusable. The screen has a temperature reading in Fahrenheit, but the TDS does not have this feature. Therefore you will need an additional thermometer to correct the ppm/pH from 2 meters to the 25°C reference found in the standard reference tables. The pH meter works as advertised and the included calibration solutions do the job. Was very close to the calibration out of the box. Again, pay attention to the temperature.
