Works well, fan not as quiet as expected

So far we've only used it in Indonesia at 220V/50Hz. I use it to charge our various devices via USB sockets, my Macbook Pro via regular outlets (although this isn't necessary as Apple's charger supports 100-240V) and an iron (for fiancé's hair, not mine) and so far none problems . The only criticism is that when the MacBook Pro (87W charger) is charging, the fan is quite noisy and doesn't run at a constant speed - it's constantly spiking up and down. If it just stayed the same speed (even if it were a higher speed) it would be a lot less annoying as we would quickly get used to the white noise. We can easily hear the fan moving up and down through the bedroom. If the Macbook battery is pretty low, this can take an hour or so, and since the bride is a light sleeper, this is very annoying for her. I usually try to charge my laptop before bed, which made things easier for us. As an aside, charging a 9" iPad and iPhone Plus will only cause the fan to go haywire for about a minute, which isn't as bad as a laptop, and once the fan got over its initial discomfort, the device became very quiet charging of the two devices at the same time.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for older people
