Don't spend $100 when you can get a $10 result

Being new to this ceramic coating craze, I figured if I wanted to take the plunge to a cheaper product. I would not waste money by filling out an application. And now a little background. I drive a 2011 Ford Raptor with close to 100,000 miles, most of which are pretty rough considering I live in dusty, windy, blisteringly hot Nevada, so suffice it to say this truck has seen some poor paint conditions. In addition, until recently, the truck had never been parked in a garage and was constantly sprayed with hard water from sprinkler systems. a complete recipe for disaster, at least as far as color goes. As with all paint related products, the devil is in the details, and by detail I mean the prep work. In addition to the ceramic coating, I also ordered a set of clay sticks, a 7" dual action polisher, and Meguiar's polishing paste, knowing that in order to properly apply the ceramic, I would have to completely remove all contamination with clay, mix paint, and well before the truck's ceramic coating polish.Due to the hard water stains, the rough shape of the paint and my obsessive compulsive disorder, I had about 8 hours (over 4 days) of prep time before I even opened the ceramic bottle. As for the ceramic set, first throw away the instructions. They are in broken Written in English and cannot be deciphered. Video on the ceramic coating on YouTube and you will more or less learn how to apply it. The kit includes the coating itself, two 'applicator' wipes, a sponge and instructions. The wipes are rubbish though since I didn't have any other types of microfiber cloths for cleaning glasses, I decided eden to use them anyway. While the bottle is tiny (think small hot sauce bottle), it's enough to make at least two machines. I built my giant truck and I have over 3/4 of a bottle left. The application is very simple, rub, wait, rub. But there is a small catch here. There are a few differing opinions on how to "remove" a coating once it's light and ready for hand polishing. Most YouTubers say just use elbow grease, but the hard-to-follow instructions say to use a damp microfiber cloth. I can tell you 100% from experience that you should definitely use a damp microfiber cloth. This will make life a lot easier. Otherwise you will always have haze that you cannot remove. Make sure you use clean water instead of detail spray as I got the same haze when using Quick Detail Spray before proceeding with clean water. I mean just look at the results! Item for $10. The paint for my trucks was a total mess. I'm sorry I didn't get any "before" photos for reference. Having just applied the product I can't comment on its durability but for $10 you can afford to apply it 5 times a year if you think you need it.
