Review on 🔧 Hunter 22717 12-Inch Downrod, White: Maximize Your Ceiling Fan's Performance by Aries Gregg

I bought this to extend my white 52" SummerBreeze. Being a Hunter brand I expected it would be easy to but it wasn't quite what I expected, this was my first fan install and there are no instructions on how to replace the factory stem, long story short, remove the screen and pin from the factory stem, unscrew the 1". -Stem and to put back in. I found that the tolerances on this bar were not as tight as the factory ones: this extension has a slightly smaller circumference which, although invisible to the eye, means that the screw will not engage it holds in place.Tightening the screw makes it "spring" towards the shaft and not press against the edge.I had to add a washer to prevent the shaft from a comes out of the rotating ball. The rod was also able to move a little in the pivot ball so I added some tape around the end to tighten it where it sits in the ball. I don't know if it made a difference but my fan doesn't vibrate so I'm glad I did. Overall, I don't think there's any other choice for the Hunter expansion, but this one from Hunter didn't impress me.
