Review on Qualward Bracket Trailer Carrier Patterns by Darth Naubert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable and easy to fit

I fitted this spare tire carrier to a C frame cargo trailer about 4" high. I got tired of always putting the spare part in the back of a truck or trailer and it was always in the way. If it is mounted on a trailer, the spare part is also guaranteed to always be with the trailer. The bolt pack was open when I opened the box, but everything was there with an extra flat washer, split washer and nut. The bracket itself is made from strong and durable steel with a beautiful finish. Installation was very easy, no problems. There are locking rings for the eyebolts to keep them from falling off when the tire is not mounted. It was a good idea, although I wish they had held the bolt a little tighter. The studs tend to sag a little making it a little harder to mount a tire on than it needs to be. I liked the extra nut to secure the lug nut. Dropping a tire while cruising the road is a worry, and this second nut should take away that worry. However, I recommend checking it out from time to time. I always think it's better to be safe than sorry. I would have preferred to have the spare centered on the tongue but couldn't find a way for my trailer to do that. I have the cross brace you can see in the photos but the tire didn't drop low enough when it was between the two frame rails. In other words, there wasn't enough lift from this mount to use it this way. This issue is not a downside of this mount as it is designed for side mounting. My only concern is sideways adjustment when making a sharp turn. We'll see how it goes and I'll update this review if I run into any issues. I'm sure I can center something if needed, but if it works, why bother. Overall this is a very good spare tire mount. It worked very well on my caravan.
