I have a Brother MFC-J870DW printer, purchased in July 2013 from Revain. I installed the EZ 7/20/16 cartridge without removing the chip from the older brother cartridge. He pressed hard on the cartridge and sat down alone. I checked the amount of ink in the printer, now it shows a full cartridge. I checked the print quality and the black ink part is perfect: no smudges, instant drying and all black ink. No leakage occurred when installing the cartridge. Gotta love saving $6 vs $32! Brother tries to intimidate you into not using third party inks by saying repairs are not covered by the 2 year limited warranty but my printer has expired so it doesn't matter.
