Review on πŸ”Œ 4K HDMI KVMP Switch with USB 3.0 Hub, Audio - IOGEAR 4-Port by Mike Quade

Works great after some tweaking

Bought new from Revain in December and initially had some issues with KVM not showing the second computer's display when switching. Worked great on iBuyPower PCs with GTX 1080 graphics and Windows 10 every time this PC was selected. But for some reason my NUC7i7BNH Linux computer (Debian) had problems with not sending any video output. The display would go black and eventually go to sleep. When switching to a Windows 10 PC immediately, the display would wake up and work perfectly. After trying the suggestions in the reviews section, disabling the battery saver mode on the NUC (display always on) worked for me. Also updated the NUC bios and disabled the "current detection" setting in KVM. If you search "GCS1932 KVM user manual pdf" you will find an online manual and instructions on how to disable this setting on page 19. I could not find any updated firmware for this KVM on the IOGear website (not available in December 2017 when I looked). Only use stock firmware. Everything has been working perfectly for almost 3 months of continuous use. I even play PUBG quite heavily on a Windows 10 PC through this KVM and haven't experienced any display glitches as I get a consistent 60fps while playing. I am planning to get a new monitor with a higher refresh rate (120Hz) and a native resolution of 3440 x 1440. It will be interesting to see if this KVM supports this refresh rate at sub-UHD resolutions. UHD resolution at 60Hz is sacrificed for higher frequencies and better gaming performance. I'm happy to report that KVM manages UW on both computers at 120Hz with no issues.

Pros
  • Great choice
Cons
  • So so
