, I have tried different grinding systems. In my opinion these DMT stones really shine in the low to medium grit range. I've tried water stones and they work well, unfortunately lower grit stones tend to be softer and they scratch a lot (get a gouge from a chisel or plane). Higher 3000+ grit waterstones tend to be very hard and have far less bulge, so I recommend using DMT stones to finish your blade and then finishing with a waterstone with extra fine grain. to get a terribly sharp chisel or plane blade that shines like chrome and cuts like a razor. My only complaint about these stones is that at 2 inches wide, planer knives can be difficult to sharpen as the blade is as wide or wider than the stone surface.
