I used this level to build some shelves around my house. Of course you don't need this if you're a seasoned handyman, but as with anything, the right tools in the right hands will make the job that much quicker and easier. I didn't have to use this to build my shelves, but the prospect of measuring and aligning everything correctly and to specification would have made my job ten times longer, required more effort, and had more room for error. I highly recommend this if you hang a lot of pictures, build shelves, or do any job that requires surface measurement. Once you have it, you'll realize how much easier it is when you have this tool in your arsenal. Also, it comes with a mount so you don't need to attach it to a tripod. It is very well designed, easy to use and reliable. You can mount on a tripod if you have space for it. You can use the bracket for hard-to-reach places. highly recommended.
