The hose I received works with my Dyson, but there is one thing about the hose that 'might' break the deal. The original Dyson hose has a clamp that holds the hose to the vacuum cleaner body. When you pull the hose up, the clamp prevents the hose from detaching from your body. If you don't stretch the hose too much when using the wand, or don't use the wand too often, it probably won't make much of a difference. Otherwise the hose will pop out and you will have to put it back in. Another thing I noticed as I wrapped the power cord around the clamps was that the pressure from it was pulling the tubing away from the case. So I just changed my habit of coiling the power cord and using a magic wand. If these things bother you, then you might want to double the price for a real thing.
