Love keeping our entire network running in the event of a power outage. I disabled a network hub in the basement. Rather than plugging this hub into my own backup battery, I chose to use a POE injector on the modem and router so they can share their existing backup battery. This was my first time using POE, so I wanted to stick with IEEE 802.3af compliant POE devices to keep it simple. It was easy to set up and worked flawlessly. The only minor complication was that I had to buy an adapter to get the right size cylinder for the power connection, but luckily I needed one of the items Revain suggested. For example, you can use different power settings.
