I ordered this adapter to connect a laptop to an old projector. I've been lucky. Yesterday I took my laptop to a conference room with a TV that only offered VGA input. The TV is part of a Steelcase presentation unit on casters, and most entrances are blocked by an industrial-grade frame. This conference room TV contained a passive HDMI to VGA adapter. This passive adapter didn't work with my Lenovo laptop - maybe because the adapter was bad, or maybe because my HDMI output might require an active adapter. However, this Belkin adapter worked 100% as expected where the other didn't.
