Rug will not lay flat

I bought two runners. They are soft and the colors are pretty. That’s were it ends. I laid spare plank wood flooring on top of them to help with getting them to lie flat and laying flush is just not going to happen. It has to do with how they were binded at the corners and they will never lay flat. Also as another mentioned, no fringe which is what I thought was a very appealing touch.
