Review on πŸ”Š 80W2 Bluetooth 4.2 HiFi USB DSP Digital Decoding Power Amplifier - SMSL AD18 by Matt Chirila

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small amp. great results. !

SMSL AD18 despite its somewhat odd name is an absolutely wonderful product.1. Installation is very simple, connect to the wall, connect to the computer, preferably via a digital output such as micro USB or optical, both are plug and play, no drivers required.2. It's more than capable of driving most reasonably impedance headphones, as far as I know it will work with 50 ohm sets, but it depends on how power hungry the banks are, my HE-400I gets very loud at max headphone volume noisy. Mods on 36, usually I'd rather run 12 on 18.3. It has a whole range of settings, various built-in equalizers, and bass and treble settings that allow you to customize your sound signature on the amp. There's also an "SDB" mode, which most could say an adaptive EQ works well for, although it's hard to do AB tests. (Also, the display can be changed to different colors, for the RGB crowd, my purple) 4. The options are both headphone amp/DAC and rear speaker outputs, and the speakers put out even more power than the headphones, so if You drive with really heavy banks or some speakers that you can manage. from the rear exits. A STRANGE THING: I have the second version of this product, the power adapter is smaller, which is good, but when it's at arm's length you can hear high pitched wine coming out. , just put it a little farther away and you can't hear it. Conclusion: Do you need an amp/DAC for your new setup? Are you looking at the $200 area or at it? do you like purple (Or Green/Blue/Yellow/Red/White) Do you want to add a sparkling boost to your life? Well, then you can probably do a lot worse. I would recommend it.
