Review on Sperry Instruments IRT100: Pocket Style Infrared Thermometer with Instant Reading and 6:1 Distance to Spot Ratio in Black and Yellow. by Dangelo Toliver

It's just a laser pointer.

I have owned it for several years. Recently updated batteries. I've tried cleaning the IR Fresnel lens with some kind of cloth, getting extremely variable results, the sensor reads 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit, high or seems to stay within 2 degrees Fahrenheit for everything else. I figured the 6 thermostats in my house fluctuated between 1 and 5 degrees, no Sperry's that bad. The case, the design, the electronic components in general seem to be of high quality, apparently there is a design flaw. The laser pointer function works great, too bad I don't have cats. It's time to perform a destructive electronic autopsy to determine the fault.
