Review on SGT KNOTS Dacron Polyester Solid Sports & Fitness by Mark Powell

Seems great value for money

My wife and I cruise the California coast in our sailboat. I bought 100 feet of 3/16 inch line to use on board mainly to make proper reef hooks for our new mainsail. Reef tags are short pieces of fishing line attached to the sail by grommets. a reefed (shortened) sail to boom if the sail reefs in strong winds. Reef hangers spend most of their lives flying, batting the sail and doing nothing. until the wind is blowing properly and the sail is reefed, then the reef hangers should be easy to tie on in wet conditions and easy to untie in lighter winds, so these lines should be neatly wrapped with sailing twine at the ends so that they do not become unusable Plug Dacron line (polyester) is mandatory for this application. It should have low elongation, good UV resistance and easy processing. So far this line seems to work like this. Each of the 8 lines was cut to 40 inches and properly folded at the ends which were then heat sealed in front of the flame. The lines were then attached to the sail with a stopper knot in the shape of a figure eight on each side of the hub. This line is easy to work with and works well. The weave is quite tight and the end of the line, although a little smooth (because it is new), is not so smooth that a properly tied knot becomes unreliable. I will post some photos , when we get back on the boat and will update this review as these slings are either fit for the task or need replacing due to poor quality. I assume they will work very well. I've given this cord 5 stars for value and 4 stars for durability so far because I'm just guessing so far Stay tuned update: This cord seems to work fine for the task (see photo) Properly tied square knot (aka reef knot) Chorus Osho is held but easily released. In addition, I have used some of the remaining cable to set up temporary self-steering on board the boat, with the cable running through small blocks of the boat and carrying some of the load from either the mainsail or staysail and applying this traction to the boat tiller . Correction. It works well.

  • Pleasant
Cons
