Review on Fel Pro BS 40612 Rear Engine: High-performance solution for efficient propulsion by James Hess

Take your time as replacing it a few times sucks because it wasn't done.

It worked, it didn't leak but the stuffing box didn't seem to have fully entered the channel on the extended wings, they rose a little and one thing seemed (eye check ) being pushed out a little more on one side than the other, the other but definitive test is that it hasn't leaked yet, although I haven't ridden it many miles yet. My last two seals installed by my former mechanic failed and I ended up doing it myself as they didn't clean the rear line properly and it kept leaking. Note that sealant must be used on joints and corners. Be very careful when cleaning the bearing cap and channel in the block. they need to be cleaned well. I used a syringe of dish soap to insert the top gasket into the block. Just slide it through the hole until it comes out the other side, use the horn as a guide and slide it straight in. Works every time. Be careful with the seal and use the horn to avoid cutting through the seal. I had two fillings just in case as my local store doesn't have them. For the time it takes to replace this, this is a cheap insurance plan. I cleaned both mating surfaces and added a bead of sealant on each side to help seal and torqued them to spec. Take your time as it sucks to replace this a few times because it was done wrong and people tend to cut corners on long projects. Because what you are doing is changing the seals to the D30 and also the steps to perform a simple task. Don't force yourself to do it twice.

Pros
  • a nice thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
