Fel Pro BS 40612 Rear Engine: High-performance solution for efficient propulsion Review

Item is ok but not the same part for 2000 and 2001 Cherokees. Stock updated in 2000. Need part number 40183 without the side "wings" on the underside of the stuffing box. I had to cut the sides off and install it in my jeep last weekend because I had already pulled the oil pan out before I found it out. I will keep an eye on the leaks and be very unhappy if I have to do it again.

Well I think I found the 1999 Wrangler mid year changes again. Revain advertises this model for the 1999 Wrangler with the 4.0 liter engine. Unfortunately there are no cut outs for the tabs you see on the bottom half of the seal. They can be cut with a razor, but if you're looking for a 2000 Wrangler. A 4.0 liter engine creates two identical semicircles that fit together perfectly. Otherwise the seals appear normal and should function as intended.

For those of you hoping that this gasket will replace the worn groove on your crankshaft journal on the old single lip seal, the double lip feature is NOT very broad. I would say 5mm between the lips. The groove on my crankpin is about this wide and I'm hoping it doesn't leak when installed as there is no way to install a bushing kit on this neck. There are several other double lip seals for this design, not sure if they are wider but the manufacturer would be wiser to recognize this…

Seal of quality. Instructions were lacking, but a quick YouTube search should provide you with plenty of DIY videos. The only issue with the product I had was that it comes with a "shoehorn" that allows you to insert the gasket into a groove on the block without damaging the gasket. Long story short, I watched a video that advised me to use the thicker of the two sides and fold it into a "V". When I did that I couldn't get the seal to go in the slot. It worked, it didn't leak but the stuffing box didn't seem to have fully entered the channel on the extended wings, they rose a little and one thing seemed (eye check ) being pushed out a little more on one side than the other, the other but definitive test is that it hasn't leaked yet, although I haven't ridden it many miles yet.
