Slow and Steady: Winding

I installed this on my 10ft trailer. I fabricated and welded an additional mounting plate on the front of the trailer to mount the winch. I mainly use this for lawn mowers and small tractors that don't work to drive them onto a trailer. I had no problems and it pulls everything I need. A big benefit for me and the main reason I bought this particular winch is that it uses the same controls as my 8000lb Suerwinch on my car trailer so I don't have to carry different controls for two winches. To power the winch. , I have 25 foot 6 gauge pure copper wire with terminals. Road Power 400C-2 500 Amp Auxiliary Wire Clips, Red/Black, Packed 2 at one end and Anderson style mini connectors. HYCLAT 6-10 GAUGE Battery Quick Connect / Disconnect the harness connector, hoist winch connector and trailer connector at the ends of the cables to connect them. I keep this cable along with the controller in a small Better Built 67011386 ATV Tool Box that mounts on the trailer tongue. That way, if I'm using a trailer, no matter what truck I'm using, I have everything I need to power the winch. I can also lend the trailer to friends or family and they have everything they need. I've used the winch about 30 times at the time of review and it's holding up very well and I'm happy with it. I only have 2 small complaints. It's slow at first, but it beats having to move dead equipment, especially 2000-pound tractors, or use a cable tensioner. The second is free spooling management. It's slightly different and sticks from time to time, but not significantly. I can always use the power to start the winch. In short it works very well and if I need a second winch of this capacity I will definitely buy another one.
