I have a detachable mount that holds both my phone and my headlamp and I wish I could move both of them forward so the light falls a little further and I would be less able to look straight down to see my to see the phone. Due to the corrugated nature of this product, he didn't hold that hand even with just my phone on it. And also because of the grooves and the rubber gasket that I needed, it was very difficult to pull it back while driving, I had to unscrew the bracket to change the position (the same bracket works great right on the steering wheel). If it's a mount for your armless gear, then you're probably fine. I was really hoping this would work as it attached directly to the stem and was strong enough to be used for climbing stairs and loading into a car. I still intend to keep it as it might be useful.
