Provides access to lots of data

This scanner has more features than I probably need but I mainly use it to read fault codes and various resets like electric parking brakes which are needed when replacing the rear brakes at new car. The first thing you have to do after taking it out of the box is to plug it in with the included USB-C cable and connect it to Wi-Fi. There appears to be no internal battery, so USB power is required when the device is not connected to an OBD2 port. The software interface is a stripped down Android platform with limited scope but a very familiar menu of functions if you swipe down on the top edge. After connecting to WiFi, go to the updates page and download the necessary updates to get access to different cars and features as indicated on the box. You don't have to download every update, it has access to more car brands than you will ever need. If you are too impatient and immediately connect it to your car without installing updates, you may get a message that your car is not found in the manufacturer's database and you need to download a $50 software update. Please check the update page first, click the update button and download the required vehicle manufacturers and machine functions. I didn't let go of it until I hooked it up to my Hyundai and got the $50 message. However, I went with a similar Kia and it worked great. Having fully installed all the necessary updates, he read my Hyundai without any problems and did not receive any extra money from his pocket. In addition to resetting service and trouble codes, this thing can also receive live data from the engine, transmission, steering, brakes, airbag, and stability control systems. It's pretty neat, and the data is useful for diagnosing a problem that's not entirely obvious. For example, it can give you the pounds of torque used to turn the steering wheel, individual wheel speeds while driving, fuel injection pressure, yaw rate, throttle angle, etc. Much more. It's an inexpensive bi-directional scanner, but it's impressive in that it can show you information about your vehicle.
