This is a simple 3D printer. This is perhaps the most important thing to know if you are just starting out in 3D printing like me. It's pretty amazing for the price, but you're going to be putting in a lot of work and probably wanting to do some upgrades. The most important thing is the orientation of the bed. By the time you get the hang of it it will probably take 2+ hours to level it well the first time and pretty close every time you need to do it. Look for an alignment test that prints on all 4 corners and in the center. The test usually lasts 20 to 40 minutes. The first upgrade you will most likely make is to replace the weak balance springs with strong yellow springs. There are other options but this is the one I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088M1JRRJ. Note that the X-axis rod (the rod that holds the extruder) will cause alignment issues if it wobbles, so you need to make sure it's level and tight. Two screws (above and below the QR code) need to be adjusted and tightened. The stick must not fall down when the extruder is at the other end. Oh, you may be having trouble with a printer that doesn't show up on your computer when you plug in the USB cable, even after following all the instructions that came with the printer. An Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or any other old computer you have can be configured to work with the printer. You'll need to download Octoprint and set it up according to the instructions for the computer you're running it on. Then follow your slicer program's instructions to connect to Octoprint and you can send prints from your computer instead of downloading everything onto the included micro SD card. There are plenty of online tutorials showing how to set it up and even add a camera so you can see it print from anywhere. There are many other upgrades you can add and printer parts you can craft. with a printer, but this should get you set up and printing without too much trouble. One final note: Tomb of 3D Printer Horrors on YouTube has a great tutorial video on setting up your printer. There I first saw the recommendation for the above springs.
