a few weeks ago because it is considered the best airbrush for makeup. I deducted one star for two reasons, which I will discuss below. The weapon itself is remarkably durable. Now I understand why Iwata is considered the best at airbrushing. While I like my Temptu SP 40 gun, it feels and sprays makeup a little better than the SP 40. What I don't like is that right after using the gun for the first time, the chrome at the very bottom of the glass started to tarnish a bit and exposed some of the brass underneath. (First reason for taking the star off. I just bought this and the chrome has tarnished. Very disappointing.) Second, this gun needs to spray multiple liquids running through it. I mainly work with silicone-based Temptu products (S/B line and Hydralock line) and although Hydralock sprays relatively easily, S/B cosmetics splatter on my face after the first few sprays. My conclusion is that thicker liquids need to be diluted appropriately before using with this gun, which means they will not be the same when applied to the face. (Second reason to deduct a star.) I think a water based cosmetic product would suit this gun as it is thinner than its silicone based counterpart. Also, this gun is best used at a higher PSI (around 20) on the face, otherwise product will build up in the nozzle causing stains. Overall I'm happy with this gun; although a little disappointed with the fading of the chrome after first use.
