Review on Apexstone 22 5Lb Spring Support Shocks by Will Bremer

Bought a pack of 4 shocks for two toy boxes I've built. My intention was to make it soft to avoid hurting my kids fingers and to help them open the lid. While it has a 22-pound rating, it doesn't have a combined 44-pound rating when two are used. Despite some other reviews, they don't close smoothly either. They resist up to a point and then give up altogether, which is a great danger to my children. When opening they offer some help but no way can they open the lid which I weighed 32-34 lbs with two punches. Based on the good reviews I decided my experience was a fluke and contacted the company. So far I've only received reports that what I've been experiencing is normal. In other words, this shock helps keep the lid open rather than helping it open or close smoothly. I saw a few other reviews on Amazon with videos and my shock is a little different. I don't know if they changed their design recently and that's why I had such a bad experience. I cannot recommend this for anything near children. Works well for a very light opening device that takes no more than 10 pounds to open or close. I'll update this if I get a better response from the seller.
